A dipeptide is formed from 2 amino acid through a process called dehydration synthesis which involves the removal of OH from the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the removal of H from the amino group of the other. Thus the C atom of one carboxyl group is connected to the N atom of the other amino acid in what is called a peptide bond.

all amino acids are optically active, except glycine.
