  subordinating conjuntion are used to join subordinating dependent clause to a main clause,eg i went swimming although it was cold.

  A clause introduced by a subordinate conjunction is set off with a comma and then moves on to the main clause. This is not a comma splice, but a proper way to punctuate the sentence.
